Abstract: | By 2050 it is estimated that three quarters of the world’s population will live in cities occupying just two percent of the global land mass. How will we do this without using unsustainable amounts of energy to heat and cool buildings within an environment that maintains pleasant external conditions that promote the health and well-being of the population?
Professor Paul Linden will introduce the ‘Managing Air for Green Inner Cities’ (MAGIC) project that addresses the challenge of cities with no air pollution and no urban heat island by 2050. He will show how the integration of green and blue spaces, along with innovative building design, can take us a long way towards that goal. |
